At CSUS, we inspire motivated learners to lead meaningful lives in a rapidly changing world. Our intimate, collaborative community encourages students to pursue passions, explore new interests, build confidence, develop compassion and thrive in an environment of academic excellence.
community, scholarship, unbounded spirit is Crystal Springs Uplands School’s motto. Created in 2007, it was chosen because it captures who we are as a school. As you click through these pages, I hope you will begin to see the many ways in which CSUS lives by this motto.
How do we do this? We accomplish it through our activities such as parent luncheons, community forums, parent-and-child events, spirit competitions and “snow days”. We make our motto come alive with events that bring us together, such as our homecoming celebrations, Fine Arts Nights and all-school assemblies.
Our motto comes to life in our classrooms, where students and teachers build meaning and knowledge together, and outside the classrooms, when students use our “consultation period” to do further study with the faculty. Ours is a community of learners, where lifelong learning is modeled by our teachers, who lead overseas trips, sponsor projects and advise students.
Our motto is evident in our laboratories, our English seminars, and in our art studios. You can see scholarship in action in the fieldwork our students and teachers pursue, and in the Senior Project presentations that every soon-to-graduate twelfth grader undertakes.
“Unbounded spirit” is everywhere. You will see it in the faces of our students on Monday mornings, when they applaud the sixth graders who convene our weekly gatherings. You can hear it in the cheers that ring out on the athletic field at football games and in the laughter that bubbles up in the cafeteria. You can see it on the stage, in the Commons and on our lawns.
